GREAT MID-CENTURY MURANO GLASS SIGNED PLAQUE. Comprising a very finely crafted thick rectangular glass plaque decorated with an expressive hand painted scene of the removal from the cross, circa 1965-1970. The background intricately etched and enameled with a sprawling thorn bush. Signed lower right Ghisetti, for noted Murano glass artesian Giampaolo Ghisetti (b. 1944-). Contained in original custom-made chromed frame. The panel 14 inches x 9.75 inches (35.5 x 25cm). Overall height 15.5 inches (39.5cm).

Giampaolo Ghisetti is a 79 year old famed Italian glass painter and decorator. A native of Venice, in the 1960's he began participating in various group exhibitions, where he acquired numerous awards and recognition. At about the same time he was recruited to the glass factories of Murano and began working as a glass decorator. He earned fame for his ability to fuse traditional art glass making and enamel decoration such as in the offered lot and eventually opened his own studio. In 1970 he was awarded for Artistic Qualities with a gold medal diploma by the Academy of S. Andrea in Rome. His works can be found and private and public collections throughout the world.
