The offered lot would appear to be based on the original by King which was later reproduced in color lithograph form for the epic three volume illustrated series, History of the Indian Tribes of North America, McKenny and Hall.

Condition Report: Overall good condition. The paint layer is stable. Black light examination reveals some scattered re-touching. The upper right and left corner exhibit retouched elliptical scratches, some minor losses on right wrist of sitter, the varnish is bloomed in areas. Would brighten if cleaned.
