Leaning slightly, minor bumping to spine ends, light toning; jacket chipped at corners and spine ends, with creases at upper inside corner of front panel. Provenance: Linda Porter (American socialite, Mrs. Cole Porter, 1883-1954, bookplate).FIRST EDITION, WITH THE RARE FIRST ISSUE JACKET priced "7/6" on front flap. It's a Battlefield sold slowly at first, but earned critical praise from Ford Madox Ford, Ezra Pound and V.S. Pritchett, among others.
