GREY, ZANE — BESSIE BETHAL CRANK [ILLUSTRATOR]
The Bonefish Brigade. [N.P.]: Privately Printed for the author, 1922

12mo (6 x 4 9/16 in.; 153 x 116 mm). 24pp., tipped-in portrait frontispiece; minor toning to first two leaves. Original stiff gray pictorial wrappers, printed in red and green, inscribed by the author on the upper wrapper, bound with green cord. With original envelope. Together in green cloth clamshell case, gilt-lettered brown morocco label to spine.

One of Grey's scarcest works. Inscribed on the front cover: "With the best of wishes for the best of good fishes, Mr. & Mrs. Will H. Dilg". Dilg was a friend of Grey's, and both were members of the Izaak Walton League of America. "The Bonefish Brigade" first appeared in the Izaak Walton Monthly, and the group of fishermen described in this work were Grey's fishing companions at Long Key Fishing Camp, though here their identities were thinly veiled through pseudonyms.
