Georg Friedrich Schmidt (1712 Schönerlinde - 1775 Berlin) after Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, called 'Rembrandt' (1606 Leiden - 1669 Amsterdam), with turban and heron feather, 1756, Etching

Technique: Etching on Paper

Inscription: Inscribed, dated and signed at upper left: "Rembrandt pinx./J.F.Schmidt fecit aqua forti/1756. Inscribed below the image in the printing plate "Du Cabinet du Sieur Gotzkoffsky.", unknown collection stamp on verso.

Date: 1756

Description: The depiction follows a model by Rembrandt from 1634. Rembrandt's painting belonged to the collection of the Berlin entrepreneur Johann Ernst Gotzkowsky at the time Schmidt's etching was created, but is now in the collection of the National Gallery in Washington.
