Inscription: Inscribed, signed and dated at the bottom of the plate: "Rembrandt Pinx. Old Tobias is mocked by his wife. From the Cabinet of Mr. Director César. G. F.Schmidt fec. aqua forti, 1773.", on the reverse blue collection stamp of the collection of the Kassel painter Johann Wilhelm Nahl ("N" in palette with brushes) (Lugt no. 1954) , furthermore some numbering and inscribed: "J. A. Baehrmann (unleseliches Kürzel)".
