A preparatory sketch for Gandolfi's etching of the same title (De Vesme 15, Bartsch 15), produced in c.1772-75 (see National Gallery of Canada, no.37597). Two similarly sized drawings from the same series, which had likewise belonged to Marcellis and Lamponi, were sold at Sotheby's, London, 2 July 1990, lot 136 (£12,100).
