Gallinule, Toronto
Gallinule. Toronto. Wire legs with wood thighs. Glass eyes. Detailed carving of the bill. Reproduction sand-shelf base. Unmarked. 11 1/2". Peter Ross Auctions (2011)
Condition
Original paint with fine surface. Shallow flake off the forehead and light chipping to the tip of the beak. The wood thighs are original. There appears to be some glue around the holes in the thigh legs, most likely to secure the wire legs. Some flaking off the tip of the tail. Wire legs and base replaced by Jeff Mewburn. The lengthy condition report is misleading as the overall condition is excellent.
