Gandharan Figural Section with Buddha

2nd-3rd century AD. A carved schist frieze fragment with high-relief seated Buddha on a rectangular dais with flanking attendants offering drinking bowls; Buddha with right hand raised in a gesture of welcome, alms bowl in his left hand; mounted on a custom-made stand. 2 kg total, 20cm including stand (8"). Property of a London collector, acquired early 1990s.
