Late 19th century, Russian Imperial Gardner painted biscuit porcelain figurine:
Old peasant drinking from wooden ladle beside the barrel with detachable cover.
Dimensions: H5.5 x D3.6 x W4.9; Base: 4.9 x 2.9 inches.
Late 19th century Gardner Porcelain Factory mark stamped in red: Moscow St George crest encircled with the full factory name and topped by the double-headed eagle. Marked no.71.
Gardner Factory Russian Porcelain founded by the Britt, Francis Gardner in 1766 near Moscow, and known for its hard paste porcelain. The factory operated by the family for three generations until 1891 takeover by Kusnetzoff. Among its notable works were colored figurines of Russian subjects in unglazed biscuit porcelain.
