Garrard & Co. Sterling Silver Tableware Service for Twelve, "Elizabethan" Pattern, with Garrard & Co. Custom Made Mahogany Silver Chest of Drawers, London, dated 1963/68

Total of 156 pieces of "Elizabethan" pattern, richly adorned with carved in relief, steepled geometric, acanthus leaf and bell flower motif; illustrated on the front cover of "Silver Flatware: English, Irish, and Scottish, 1660-1980" by Ian Pickford. Including 12 of each: bolster diner knife with steel blade, 9 ¾"L; bolster luncheon knife with steel blade, 8 ⅞"L; dinner fork, 8 ⅜"L; luncheon fork, 7 ⅛"L; salad fork, 6 ⅞"L; individual butter spreader with sterling blade, 6 ¼"L; place soup spoon, 6 ⅞"L; cream soup spoon, 6 ¾"L; citrus/melon spoon, 6"L; sherbet/chocolate spoon, 5 ¼"L; tea spoon, 5 ¾"L; 5 o'clock tea spoon, 5 ¼"L; and 5 o'clock dessert spoon, 5 ¼"L. Each piece properly marked with Garrard & Co. hallmark, lion passant, leopard head, and dates letters for 1963/68, blades marked with "Garrard & Co. Ltd., 112, Regent St., London, England/ Rustless." Offered in custom made mahogany three-drawer chest on four spear head tapered legs; nesting compartments with individual slots lined with green felt inside. Chest marked with insert plaque "Garrard & Co. Ltd., 112, Regent St., London, England, W.1" on the upper drawer. Total weight of sterling, without 24 pieces with rustless blades, 206.61 toz.

Provenance: private collection of distinguished Pittsburgh family, by descent to current owner; acquired directly from Garrard & Co, London in 1969.
