General Admiral Alfred Saalwächter – a large dress uniform as AdmiralThe bespoke jacket made of fine, navy blue cloth with gold anchor buttons, "piston rings", military insignia, breast eagle and aiguillette. The name tag dated 1930 in the inside pocket of the black silk lining (signs of wear). Stitched field orders clasp, affixed Iron Cross 1st Class and U-boat War Badge 1918 (not from the Saalwächter estate), the horizontal pin re-soldered. Comes with the matching waistcoat with the same name tag on the rear cinch and back adjustment, the trousers with broad, gold stripes on the side seams, and a white shirt.Alfred Saalwächter (1883 - 1945) enlisted in the Imperial Navy as a sea cadet in 1901, rising to Oberleutnant in 1906, Flaggleutnant and adjutant to Vizeadmiral Hugo von Pohl in 1910, then Kapitänleutnant on the admiral's staff in 1911-15. He subsequently transferred to the U-Boat force, commanding U 25, U 46 and U 94, among others. Promoted to Konteradmiral in 1932, Vizeadmiral in 1935, Admiral in 1937 and Generaladmiral in 1940. Awarded the Knight's Cross on 9 May 1940 for the invasion in Norway. He retired from the navy in 1943 and was shot dead by the Soviets in 1945.Condition: II
