Rare map of the modern world from the first woodblock used by Münster between 1541 and 1548. The main difference to the new block cut in 1550 are the lacking of the name of the engraver and no banners for the titles of the windheads. - Uncol. Some occasional spotting. Repaired tear at lower centerfold just affecting image, there some tiny stitches.

It also was used for the first four editions of his more extensive encyclopaedic work, the 'Cosmographia' in 1544... 1548 before the block was laid aside". - Stellenweise etwas fleckig.
