[ translate ]

\Artist: Gennaro Villani (1885-1948)
Technique: olio su cartoncino\Signature: Hand signed\Dimensions: 41_51_3_cm
Refined and elegant oil painting by Gennaro Villani. He began his artistic career at a young age and lived and worked between Italy and France. He stayed in Paris from 1912 to 1914 and during the Parisian period was invited to join the French Academies. He was a pupil of Michele Cammarano, Gaetano Esposito and Vincenzo Volpe. With the experience gained in France and the knowledge acquired by the French Impressionists and the Fauves painters, his style was more marked by a less limited use of colour and diverse colour ranges. In the thirties his works were strongly influenced by the style of the artistic movement ‘Novecento’, with a return to the plastic-volumetric research of tradition. In the 1940s and in the last period of his life he returned to a more independent use of colour. The work offered here depicts a pleasant country landscape of great quality and pictorial strength. Size: about 20x30 cm. Size with frame: about 41x51 cm. In good overall condition. After careful examination, no restoration or tampering with the work emerged (it is coeval) . With certificate of authenticity. Accurate and tracked shipping. The frame is offered as a gift and should be considered as such.
