Geo. Vebanck gradually became better known, including through his participation in national and international exhibitions.
In 1941 Geo. Verbanck was awarded the State Prize “Greatest prize in the plastic arts for his entire oeuvre.
Verbanck is considered one of the last classical sculptors and “the poet of elegance”.
Legacy from my grandmother born in 1899-1960.
Her husband was the well-known architect in Ghent: Paul Detaeye, my grandfather.
They had many artists as friends including this sculptor Geo. Verbanck.
The statue has a glazed plaster structure.
From 1940.
Is in very good condition, some minor flaws due to age.
