He left the school of Bonnat, entered the School of Fine Arts in Paris and met Albert Maignan who became his new teacher and with whom he developed a filial relationship. Georges Bergès was widely recognised and received numerous awards. He took advantage of this to make his first trip to Andalusia. It was in 1898. He returned deeply marked by the colours and atmospheres. His touch is transformed in favour of sublimated landscapes; this painting was intended for FRANÇOIS DUHOURCAU, a French novelist and historian, to reward him for winning the Grand Prix du roman de l'Académie française in 1925, hence the date inscribed on the painting
