This exclusive edition contains the most beautiful views of topography by Georg Braun and Franz Hogenberg. The publisher Müller & Schindler has published this masterpiece of cartography and city drawing, dating from 1574.
It is the most comprehensive and best-known city book from the late 16th century and bears the Latin name in the original:
Civitates Orbis Terrarum
This work was therefore written almost half a century before Matthäus Merian's famous Topographia Germaniae. The Flemish engraver Franz Hogenberg was in charge in Cologne, together with the Cologne theologian Georg Braun.
Under the title Civitates Orbis Terrarum, the work brought together views of all major and important cities in Europe, Asia, Africa and even America.

With a colored title page and approx. 60 double-page-sized, colored facsimile city views plus the corresponding city descriptions.
The maps are reproduced in the format of the original; the colors of the old colorings have been retained. Each facsimile is an individual product. Both craftsmanship and the latest technology are used in their production.
The cover itself is made of vegetable-tanned, fine full-grain cowhide with 6 false frets. Artistic, elaborate and decorative blind and real gold embossing on the book cover and spine complete the picture.
With magnificent title copperplate and double-sided views/maps/plates/vedutas in very beautiful, bright colors with accompanying text explanations.
The book block has a fine, shiny, three-sided gold edge.
Folio - format approx. 42 x 29 cm. Heavy and valuable handmade paper.
Included is the 40-page commentary booklet by Max Scheffold with sketches, photos and reproductions:
