Georg Jensen: A Pair of Two-armed Candelabras No. 244

Copenhagen. Designed 1918, made 1919-27. Sterling silver, marked 925 S, manufactory mark Georg Jensen, Designnr. 244. Vegetable shaft with crowning cone on a round moulded stand, each with 2 curved candlestick arms with removable candle sockets. H. 21 cm, total weight approx. 2730 g - Literature: Taylor/Laskey, p. 114, fig. 3; Drucker, p. 235 - Danish silversmith, 1895-1901 Studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen, then worked in the studio of the Danish court jeweler Michelsen. In 1904 opening of his own studio in Copenhagen where Jensen first produced works in the Art Nouveau style. Soon after he founded the company Georg Jensen, which is famous for their designs in the functional style of the Danish industrial designs.
