George Bryant Campion, British 1796-1870- A horse and cart with figures, ducks and a pig beside a rural dwelling; pencil and watercolour heightened with white on paper, arched top, signed 'G. B. Campion' (lower right), bears old label attached to the reverse of the backing board, bears further (ownership?) label 'G. A. Forbes' attached to the reverse of the frame, 27 x 42 cm. Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: Campion was one of the earliest members of the New Society of Painters in Water Colours, having been elected in 1837, and was a frequent contributor to the exhibitions of that society. He also served as Drawings Master at the Military Academy in Woolwich.
