Note: The sheet to which this drawing is laid is the verso of a sheet of letter paper, the rec to of which is inscribed in a 19th-century hand as follows: Take from thy harp the cypress leaf/Let gayer groves inspire/Let not discordant tones of grief/Monopolise the lyre./This world is not so good perchance/As poets wish to view/But love still cheers the bride [cut off]/Friends are not all untrue.
