George Grammer (American, 1928-2019) Quiet Parade Watercolor on paper 16-3/8 x 22 inches (41.6 x 55.9 cm) (sheet) Signed lower right: G. Grammer Signed and titled verso: Quiet Parade / George Grammer The youngest member of the Fort Worth Circle, George Grammer studied under Kelly Fearing at Texas Wesleyan College, Fort Worth. Awarded a scholarship, he attended the Art Students League and became a full-time resident of New York City in 1957. Painting primarily with oil and watercolor, Grammer is known for his abstracted scenes of architecture, streets, and oil rigs at night, as well as realistic still-lifes. His work was included in Intimate Modernism: Fort Worth Circle Artists in the 1940's (2008), Amon Carter Museum, Fort Worth.
