George Herriman The Family Upstairs / Dingbat Family / Krazy Kat Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 4-11-11 (New York Evening Journal, 1911). An exceptionally early appearance of Krazy Kat and Ignatz Mouse, still emerging from the margins of The Family Upstairs before receiving their own celebrated strip. Herriman delivers a nearly wordless delight as Dingbat's determined pointer pup proves vulnerable to canine persuasion. Published as "Dingbat's Persevering Pointer Pup Falls for Their Tribe," a notation along the lower edge reveals the intended punchline: "...Falls for Their Bribe." A wonderful glimpse of two future icons at the dawn of their history. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 27" x 9.25". The board is toned, with chipped edges and corners, handling wear, and stains. In Good condition. HID09710052018 © 2026 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
