George III Sterling Silver-Gilt Tea Caddy

After a model by Paul de Lamerie, rectangular with cartouches to front and reverse with Chinese figure picking tea leaves in relief, the end panels with tea plants, the hinged cover with foliate finial. Height 5 1/2 inches (14 cm), approximately 12 ounces.

The original design for this form by Paul de Lamerie is dated 1752 and a pair of tea caddies and sugar box are in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, gifted by Alan and Simone Hartman.
