George Jones & Sons Majolica Water Lily and Bamboo 'Spencer's Patent' Magnetic Water Filter and Cover
Circa 1875
Black painted 3, the metal insert stamped, Spencer's Patent Magnetic Filter
Of waisted cylindrical form, the slightly domed cover with a white waterlily knop set among lily pads, the front and back with arched panels of pink pond lilies and bulrushes above the raised inscription, MAGNETIC FILTER and SPENCER'S PATENT flanking the spigot nozzle, the side molded as vertical bamboo staves flanked by lily pad handles, the lavender interior enclosing a circular metal insert. Height 16 inches.

Condition Report: presents well; professional restoration to cover and the water filter; the cover appears to have been in half and with restoration to the finial and to the petal tips; the entire surface has been sprayed (cover) making it difficult to determine what has been done; the stoneware liner has an associated chips near the notch; there is restoration to both handles and an area on the spout; the rim and interior have also been sprayed to a depth of about 2 inches around the periphery; blacklighted
