George Nakashima 4-Door Pandanus Cabinet with Card

[ translate ]

George Nakashima 4-Door Pandanus Cabinet in Walnut and Teak. With Original George Nakashima work card included. Ends have been Shortened. Provenance: Mrs. J Faust commissioned George Nakashima in 1957 to produce this massive four sliding door credenza in walnut with a teak top for her home in Bala Cynwyd Pennsylvania. The description of the credenza is evidenced by the "card" that Mrs. Faust saved which turns out to be one of the earliest uses of the card by George Nakashima. As described, the credenza is a four door Pandanus sliding door credenza with a walnut case and an unusual teak top that had an eight inch overhang on either side. There are also two shallow drawers and six adjustable shelves. When Mrs. Faust moved from her home to a condominium she brought the piece with her; however, as the credenza did not fit into her new dining room she had a wood worker trim six inches off of either side of the top overhang. We have had the Nakashima Studio do a full ground up restoration of the piece including replacement of the pandanus, a refinishing all the wood and of the top to adjust some fading issues and to bring the new side edges up to the standards of the Studio. Dimensions: H: 26.5 inches: W: 125.5 inches: D: 20.5 inches ---
Condition Report: Completely refurbished by Nakashima Studios in New Hope PA.
