George Nakashima, Triple Chest of Drawers
George Nakashima
Triple Chest of Drawers
Nakashima Studio
USA, 1963
cherry
32.5 h × 84 w × 21.5 d in (83 × 213 × 55 cm)
Chest features one free edge and twelve drawers. Sold with a digital copy of the original order card.
Provenance: Acquired directly from the artist by Mr. and Mrs. Murray and Ruth Raphel
Literature: George Nakashima, Woodworkers, studio catalog, unpaginated
This item will preview and ship from Rago in Lambertville, New Jersey.
Condition Report: Minimal wear throughout in keeping with well-maintained use over time including a few shallow scratches, minute indentations, and small chips along free edge. Some edges and corners exhibit professional repair. There is evidence of minor dry rot isolated to a small area of the underbase and only visible when the rightmost bottom drawers are removed or the piece is on its back. The area has been viewed by a professional restorer and it has been stabilized. This is likely the result of the wood selection, and therefore an isolated issue to the underside not affecting the aesthetic or function of the chest. Otherwise very good condition.
