Autographed by George Crook in lower margin. George R. Crook was a career United States Army officer, most noted for his distinguished service during the American Civil War (Antietam, Chickamauga, Appomattox) and the Indian Wars. During the 1880s, the Apache nicknamed Crook Nantan Lupan, which means "Chief Wolf." Crook's troops were waylaid at the Battle of the Rosebud and proved unable to support the 7th Cavalry at the Little Bighorn.
