UNITED KINGDOM. George VI, 1936-52.
Bronze Halfpenny, 1947. Royal Mint. Proof.
Obv: GEORGIVS VI D : G : BR : OMN : REX F : D : IND : IMP., Bare head of King George VI facing left; HP below; legend around. Design by Thomas Humphrey Paget. Rev: Sailing ship 'The Golden Hind' of Sir Francis Drake; date below; HALF PENNY above. Design by Thomas Humphrey Paget. Edge plain.

The 1947 Proof Halfpenny belongs to the rare special strikings made outside the Royal Mint’s regular Proof-set issues. Struck from specially polished dies, they offer a carefully finished version of the familiar circulating design.
