Condition Report:
The canvas has been lined and is providing a strong and stable support to the paint surface. There is craquelure visible upon very close inspection, notably to the foreground and left sky otherwise the work is ready to hang. There is a small raised line to the upper right sky. Examination under ultra-violet light reveals scattered small areas of retouching to the sky, notably to the upper left centre edge, upper right quadrant, upper left corner, centre right sky and two areas to the left of the figure group. There is some infilling to the foreground, scattered retouchings, and retouching to a repair in the lower left corner. There are also scattered retouchings to the horses and figures, and an uneven varnish layer, fluorescing in places to this group.
