Description:
A beautiful work of art ("circus clown", mixed media) by the Dutch artist Ger Langeweg (1891-1970) . With a new wooden frame, an acid-free passe partout and anti-reflex (plastic) glass. Signed lower right and dated 1958. The dimensions with frame: 63 cm. x 48 cm. The image size is: 46 cm. x 37 cm. The condition of the artwork is very good! The work can be viewed at Kunsthandel Martins in Wolvega and comes with a certificate of authenticity!

Biography:
After completing his education in Amsterdam, Ger Langeweg went to Flanders and came into contact with James Ensor, with whom he felt very close. Ger Langeweg attended the academies of Ghent and Bruges and lived in Paris for some time. His subjects are often figures, still lifes, nudes, landscape and fantasy figures in a magical realistic style. He was influenced by Giorgio de Chirico, Raoul Hynckes and Pyke Koch. But he kept his own style: “You have to drink from your own glass,” was his motto.

Special feature:
This work was included in an exhibition of drawings, watercolors and mixed techniques (19th and 20th centuries) in Museum De Lakenhal in Leiden. Period: June 26 to August 29, 1963. No. 45.
