Gerald Ford Signed & Inscribed Lincoln Engraving, Comparing Himself to Martyred President
AMS

A vignette engraving of Abraham Lincoln signed and inscribed by former President Gerald Ford. 1p, measuring 9" x 12", n.p., February 6, 1995. Signed near the lower margin as "Gerald R. Ford", he compares his own experiences during the Watergate scandal and Vietnam War to that of the martyred 16th President. The engraving is mounted to a thick Masonite board. Exhibits slightly bumped and rounded corners, with light surface markings throughout. Rough edges to board. Otherwise, very attractive.

Ford's inscription reads in full: "Abraham Lincoln, before and during, my political career was an idol and a special inspiration. His Civil War problems in many ways were similar to mine with the horrors of Watergate and the tragedy of Vietnam. Gerald R. Ford 2/6/95."
