In full:
"In 1964, the Warren Commission unanimously decided:
1. Lee Harvey Oswald was the assassin, and
2. The Commission found no evidence of a conspiracy, foreign or domestic.
As a member of the Commission, I endorsed those conclusions in 1964 and fully agree now as the sole surviving Commission member.
Gerald R. Ford
3/31/98".
In 1998, Ford had long finished his presidency (1974-1977) and was the last living member of the Warren Commission. When the Warren Commission was established, Ford was one of seven members all picked by President Lyndon B. Johnson (1908-1973). While a part of the Commission, Ford was tasked to review evidence, attend hearings, and aid in drafting the commission's final report. Ford sent an issue stating that in 1964, the Commission as a whole decided that Lee Harvey Oswald (1939-1963), a former Marine, was single-handedly responsible for the assassination of President John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) and that there was no evidence of conspiracy. However, this statement received a large amount of criticism from many historians, believing that many questions regarding the assassination remain unanswered.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
