Gerard Schäperkötter (1914-2006) - Stilleven met gele pompoen, druiven, bloemen en witte vaas

[ translate ]

\Artist: Gerard Schäperkötter (1914-2006)
Technique: Oil on canvas\Signature: Hand signed\Dimensions: 63_83_5_cm
Beautiful colourful and expressionist work by Schäperkötter: the colours splash from the canvas. The paint is often applied past-like and testifies to a penetrating life force. Bright white is placed next to deep black, vermilion red next to ochre yellow. Gerard Schäperkötter was originally a graphic designer and chose freelance painting in 1934. His approach is spontaneous and liberal and resulted in, after a figurative lead time, powerful compositions in the 1960s and 1970s. In balancing between abstract and figuration, they remind somewhat of the lyrical abstract art of the Ecole de Paris. In 1984, Schäperkötter exhibited at the Singer Museum in Laren and in 2013 Museum Jan van der Togt paid tribute to the painter. Three years ago, a smaller painting by him (40 x 50 cm) was auctioned at AAG for 1,600 euros. Signed on the back. Origin: inherit Schäperkötter. The work will be sent carefully packed and by registered and insured mail.
