Germany, Offices in Chinaâ Shanghai, 1901 Shanghai Post Office Fire Cover. Picture postcard with manuscript "Feld" added to "Postkarte" of a battery of heavy guns, "K.D. Feldpoststation No. 8 23/2" despatch circular datestamp, addressed to Berlin, Germany, affixed with label with violet manuscript noting damage due to fire at the Shanghai Post Office because of an explosion, framed "S.B. Ostas. Exped. 2 Eisenb:Baukomp" handstamp, Berlin (Apr. 9) arrival datestamp, card heavily singed and damaged at bottom FINE. ONE OF THE FEW SURVIVING EXAMPLES OF A MANUSCRIPT LABEL AFFIXED TO A DAMAGED COVER FROM THE 1901 SHANGHAI POST OFFICE FIRE. VERY FEW EXAMPLES HAD LABELS APPLIED VERSUS THOSE THAT RECEIVED THE SPECIALLY MADE HANDSTAMPS OR OUTER COVERS. Feldpost No. 8 was located in Shanghaikuan from Nov. 26, 1900 to Aug. 31, 1901
