German School, first half 18th century - Landscape with Peacocks, Rooster, Turkey and Rabbit
German School, first half 18th century
Landscape with Peacocks, Rooster, Turkey and Rabbit
Oil on canvas (relined). 114 x 136 cm.
Monogrammed and dated lower left: AE/1746 (?).
Fred G. Meijer points out the similarities of this composition to a painting of the German animal painter Johann Georg Waxschlunger, who was active earlier, however, and whose landscape conception and colouring diverge accordingly. The author of this painting is therefore probably a German artist who succeeded Waxschlunger.
We would like to thank Dr Fred G. Meijer for his kind information on this painting.
