German silver tea caddy
A German silver tea caddy, of oval fluted form with domed, hinged cover, beaded border detail, and engraved initial 'G' to the front. Stamped 835 with the crescent moon and crown reichsmark, and maker's mark for Wilhelm T. Binder. Length 11cm, weight 7.02ozt (218.4g).
Condition Report:
- Displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches, and tarnishing
- With a little blackening and dried polish residues to some areas and crevices
- Minor surface nicks and dints, including around edges
- A little damage to one area of the beading, and slight loss of definition to other areas
- Hinged lid closes securely but rises up slightly on one side when closed, creating a small gap; slight surface dints to the domed top
- Interior is heavily stained and blackened
- Hallmarks located to base and all clearly legible; further stamped 'M. ST. & S.' below marks
