German/Italian - Army/Infantry - Helmet - 1550

16th Century German/Italian Etched Morion/Cabasset. This is a very nice etched Morion/Cabasset from approx. 1500/1550 The Morion/Cabasset is most probably made in the south of Germany or in Milan as this were the regions at the time who produced these types of etchings. The Morion/Cabasset has etchings of a crowned phoenix and floral designs and a grotesque and floral designs on the helmet, the decorative riveted rim is etched with a floral design and finished with a cable rim. A small battle damage can been seen to the side of the helmet, Sword blow ? The helmet comes with a receipt from 1976 from a antique dealer based in Lucern Switzerland stating the provenance of the helmet. All our items a shipped by Tracked and Signed For mail.
