Gettysburg Monument Albumen – Berdan's
Rare post-war albumen of the monument to the Michigan companies of Berdan's 1st U.S. Sharpshooters. The monument is located on Little Round Top where Companies C, I, and K of the regiment were dispatched to on July 3rd, 1863, where they engaged confederate sharpshooters sheltering in Devil's Den. The Michigan sharpshooters eventually seized control of Devil's Den after a charge that they termed an “Indian rush,” capturing 18 prisoners.
