Ghigos - Pietre Trovanti - Candle holder, Centrepiece, Sculpture - Trovanti. Satellite & Trovanti. Variazioni

[ translate ]

A classic rosewood marble 2-hole tea candle holder/flower vase - H ± 8 cm and an Albanera stone candle holder/single-flower vase - H± 22 cm In Val d’Ossola, core drilling is a frequently used process to empty stone blocks and make tanks, planters and fountains. This candle holders collection is made with recycled scrap cylindrical cores from core drilling of various sizes with various types of fractures. “Variazioni” is a necessary and almost involuntary tribute to the vases by Angelo Mangiarotti. The fundamental differences between the collections lie in various factors: in the raw material, which in our case are scraps and in his case first choice; in the transformation, which in our case takes place with the simple and daily processing we call core drilling, while in his it is the result of using sophisticated numerical control cutting machines; in the manual skills of our craftsmen, against industrial repetitiveness; in the enhancement of imperfection, against the pursuit of perfection; in the use of the additional waste resulting from processing, with which we produce, again manually, the "Satelliti" collection. In the “Variazioni” collection, the object’s sense and meaning get the better of its pure shape. We left from a common ground and found ourselves very far away from Mangiarotti. Our journey took us to the opposite poles: it is difficult to imagine heterozygous twins more different than our homozygotes. The Trovanti Collection; sometimes the shape of the scraps reveals continuity features. These stones inspire reproducible shapes. Pietre Trovanti makes designer and applied art objects. They transform asymmetrical rocks, discarded and not suitable for traditional production and current market logic, by using artisanal, environmentally sustainable processing. This workgroup was inspired by the contemplation of nature in Ossola Valley, an intimate, pure and wild place, for centuries dedicated to the extraction and processing of stone. The group turns discarded stones into everyday objects or unique items with amazing aesthetics and functionality.
