[ translate ]

An antique Persian carpet gutshan (Khorassan region, Northeast Persia) .
So-called village carpet, a Kurdish knotwork from the Gutschan settlement.

Very similar in color and pattern to the specimens
the Kazak region (Southwest Caucasus) with similar colors-
and fantastic highland wool.
On the red background two mighty
almost format-filling box medallions, in which eight-pointed
Stars are shown on a dotted background. The field side
with octagonal flowers. In the lower area and in the middle-
larger ornaments and box medallions with hook motifs.
Rare two-tone main border with hook motifs and
in the upper and lower area with running dog motifs.
The black and white border is also used in carpet literature as
referred to positively and negatively, since the ornaments only
differ in color, white for positive and dark for negative.

Age: around 1900.

Dimensions: 1. 87 x 1. 20 meters approx. 6. 2" x 4 feet approx.
Material: wool on wool with bright natural colors and highland wool.
Condition: Relatively well-preserved piece with minimal signs of age.

The rug is slightly odd in length and is very-
probably knotted and made for personal use.

Overall impression good and okay. Rare sought-after collector's item
with archaic creative presentation and great coloring.
