Giambologna, also known as Jean de Boulogne, is arguable the most celebrated sculptor of Italian mannerism. He trained under famous sculptor Jacques Dubroeucq before moving to Rome in 1550, where het met Michelangelo. He then visited Florence, where he met Francesco de’Medici. By the year 1561, he was on a monthly retainer from the Medici.
