Gibeon Meteorite Iron, IVA Great Nama Land, Namibia - (25° 30'S, 18° 0'E) Found: 1836 Only approximately 1 in 1,000 meteorites have a hole in them and, while the aperture on this excellent Gibeon is not completely closed, it definitely qualifies. The undulating surface is replete with classic color and look of the iconic material from the massive strewn field in Africa, and this unique offering displays an amazing overall shape, an intriguing form, and is an exceptional example of this Iron meteorite. This is also one rather substantial specimen, weighing a stout 6 kilograms (13 pounds) and measuring 9 inches (23 cm) at its maximum dimension. The Gibeon Meteorite is considered one of the best of the top Irons due to its inherent stability and natural aesthetic qualities. This serious specimen is as decorative as it is collectible and offers a wonderful opportunity to own a piece of the prehistoric meteorite that was first found in 1836.
