Gibeon Meteorite Slice Iron, IVA Great Nama Land, Namibia - (25° 30'S, 18° 0'E) Found: 1836 A truly classic, extremely collectible, and popular Iron, Gibeon is a top-tier meteorite, representing some of the finest specimens of the Iron variety known. This thin slice of the IVA, officially found in 1836 but known to the Nama people and used to make tools and weapons well before formally being recognized as a find, weighs 187.6 grams and exhibits multiple attributes. This slice shows a wonderful Widmanstätten pattering on both etched sides, with a superb latticework design. Another bonus of this spectacular specimen is the pronounced and rare hole near one edge of the irregular offering. One side is fully finished, while the other displays darker areas around the hole and at the edges of the unique meteorite form. This is a distinct presentation of Gibeon and a rather highly visually impactful offering of extraterrestrial rock. This is a striking and ideal display meteorite slab.
