Meteorites are among the most rare materials in existence, and iron meteorites are rarer still, comprising roughly one in seven of all known specimens. In recent times, local Namibian tribesmen have located Gibeon specimens with the aid of metal detectors, a modern improvement over methods of their ancestors who fashioned recovered specimens into spear points and other tools.
