Gilded bronze warrior, China, Ming-Qing dynasty
It depicts a guardian Buddha 'Weituo' of Buddhist temples and monasteries. He stands holding a pagoda in his left hand on a cloud-shaped base. He is wearing full armour, a crown and a celestial scarf. There is patina and traces of polychromy, lacquer and gilding, partially worn away. On the base there is an engraved seal or mark in the form of a double crossed "vajra", a symbol of Buddhism.
