Gilson, Guelph Dixie "Ace" Tractors Sign
Canadian. 1910s. Embossed lithographed single-sided tin (SST). Gilson Manufacturing was a Wisconsin company that opened a branch plant in Guelph, Ontario in 1907. The Dixie Ace tractor was made by Gilson in Guelph from 1919 to 1920. No examples of the Dixie Ace tractor are known to exist. Sold by J.R. MacDonald, Smith's Falls. Marked, "St Thomas Metal Signs, St. Thomas, Ont.", lower right edge. 13.75" x 20". From the Jon Church Collection.
Condition Report: Very good condition. Specks of stain/oxidation surrounding the "X" in Dixie. Minor creases and staining particularly at border. Some crazing.
