Gilt Bronze Guanyin Statuette, 19th Century
A gilt-bronze Guanyin seated in rajalilasana, or 'royal ease,' dating from the 19th century. The necklace and headpiece of the statuette feature turquoise inlay. Guanyin's cloak depicts flowering branches and birds.
Dimensions are: 9 1/4 inches tall X 5 1/2 inches wide; 23.5 cm tall X 14 cm wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: Gilt is worn; missing turquoise pieces at headpiece.
Provenance: From a collection in Phoenix, Arizona; acquired in Japan prior to the 1970s.
