Gilt Bronze & Pietra Dura Jewelry Casket, 19th c.
A late 19th c. European hexagonal jewelry casket of gilt bronze, with nicely cast putti and swag mounts, and six unique pietra dura floral medallions (semi-precious stones inlaid in slate). Hinged top encloses an interior lined with blue velvet.
Measures approximately 5 3/4" x 8".
Condition Report: The pietra dura medallions are in great overall condition, and there are no losses to the mounts. A few individual mountings wiggle a little bit. Some tarnish to gold plating. Interior velvet is worn.
