Giménez JUAN GIMÉNEZ THE FOURTH ESTATE The Fourth Estate (Vol. 1), Dargaud 1989 Original cover. Signed. India ink and watercolor on paper 25.1 × 34.1 cm (9.88 × 13.43 in.) This cover by Juan Giménez captures the essence of the Fourth Power saga: the story is set in a future marked by a war between humans and the Krommiums. The heroine, Exether Mega, is a young military pilot endowed with special psychic abilities, which her superiors attempt to merge with the consciousnesses of three other women in order to create an entity possessing unlimited cosmic power: the “Fourth Power.” One cannot help but admire his technical virtuosity in rendering the young woman’s complexion as the vulnerable element within the palette of grays, ochres, and faded blues of the machines. With unparalleled talent, Giménez contrasts the fallen grandeur of the machines with human fragility… Didier Pasamonik
