This painting refers to Giovanni Battista Piazzetta (1683-1754) , a great protagonist of eighteenth-century painting.
Piazzetta is one of the greatest exponents of the chiaroscuro movement, characterized by the contrast of light and shadow and the intense drama of the figures, stylistic features that we find well in the famous painting "The Indovina" preserved in the Galleria dell'Accademia in Venice.
This is a valuable version of Piazzetta's work, dating back to the end of the nineteenth century, a large oil on canvas, 66x87 cm.
This version is also interesting for the chiaroscuro cuts, and the broad brushstroke that creates large surfaces on which the light slides while transmitting that heavy sensation typical of the Piazzetta.
